Looking beyond your prescription.
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that can damage the optic nerve, which carries visual information to your brain. Early changes may not affect how clearly you see, so an eye-pressure reading alone does not tell the whole story.
Dr. Morshedi’s approach considers eye pressure, the appearance of the optic nerve, and visual field testing. Your medical history and family history also help guide an individualized plan for monitoring, treatment, or specialist referral.
When should I book an evaluation?
An eye evaluation is especially important if you have a family history of glaucoma, have been told you have elevated eye pressure, or are overdue for an examination. Your doctor can recommend the right interval for your needs.
A little preparation helps.
- Bring your medication list and relevant previous eye-care records.
- Make a note of your symptoms and the activities they affect.
- Bring your current glasses and ask whether dilation is planned.
