Your everyday vision matters.
A cataract is clouding of the eye’s natural lens. It commonly develops with age, but the effect on your vision and daily activities is different for everyone. Symptoms can include blurred vision, faded colors, glare, and halos around lights.
An examination can help determine whether a cataract or another eye condition is contributing to your symptoms. Dr. Morshedi can discuss monitoring, prescription changes where helpful, and referral to an ophthalmologist when a surgical consultation is appropriate. Cataract surgery is not performed at this optometry practice.
Is it time to consider surgery?
The decision depends on how your vision affects the things you need and want to do, not just a number on an eye chart. Your eye doctor can help you weigh the benefits, risks, and timing of a specialist consultation.
A little preparation helps.
- Bring your medication list and relevant previous eye-care records.
- Make a note of your symptoms and the activities they affect.
- Bring your current glasses and ask whether dilation is planned.
